In the first weekend of the F1-2020 season, Red Bull Racing will appear in Austria immediately with upgrades. The team of Max Verstappen is taking a big risk because they haven't been able to do enough tests yet. The choice to take the upgrades anyway indicates an aggressive approach.

Of the three upgrades brought along, the fins protruding from the top of the floor seem to be the most drastic. In short, the fins will contribute to the downforce of the RB16. In addition, the first images on the front wing of the RB16 also show added attachment points, reports Motorsport.com.

Although it is not clear what these points are and there is nothing attached to these slots on the images, these points could imply that many more changes have been made to the floor than can be seen at first glance.

Optimization for aggressive season start

Thirdly, the team monitored the flexibility and rotating capacity of the front wing during the test. Moving and dynamic wings are forbidden, however, the tests are very important for the team to have clear to what exten they can use their frontwing in this.

At the same time the team has to meet the strict requirements of the FIA, but within this the optimal use of the wing has to be found. A good understanding of this ensures the best preparation. With these novelties Red Bull shows that they are not lagging behind rival Mercedes. Both teams will appear extremely competitive at the start.
