Today, Formula 1 started a campaign against Racism. #WeRaceAsOne aims to draw attention to the fight against the coronavirus and inequality in the world. F1 hopes to get more attention to the subjects. So in Austria there will be several initiatives that will be held, Red Bull Racing revealed.

"We need to be aware of two major problems in today's society, COVID-19 and inequality. We are going to do this during the start of the season by thanking the people who fought against the pandemic. We also want to show that as a sports community we are against racism and that we are tackling the inequalities within Formula 1", Red Bull says in a statement.

During the first Grand Prix in Spielberg, there will be many rainbows, as a symbol of the campaign. "The rainbow has been chosen because it is an international symbol and it brings groups together. The rainbow will come back during the season". Red Bull indicates that several things will happen during the race weekend in Austria to show support. In addition, Red Bull is going to announce this week that they are going to do more to stimulate diversity within the sport.

McLaren also expresses support

It is not only Red Bull that shows intention in various initiatives. McLaren also plans to show themselves during the race weekend. "We fully support Formula 1 with their #WeRaceAsOne campaign. F1 and McLaren have a global reach and see that returning to the track is an opportunity to make an impact by helping those affected by the coronavirus and those who are now protesting against racism," said Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren.

In the run-up to the start of the season in Austria, McLaren will be selling special merchandise, the proceeds of which will go to the F1 campaign to support those affected by the coronavirus. The rainbow will be seen several times on the car of McLaren and on the race overalls of Carlos Sainz and Lando Norris.
