Ferrari has officially announced that it will appear at the Mugello circuit on Tuesday with the 2018 Ferrari. Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel both make meters ahead of the start of the season.

Ferrari is going to test

The Formula 1 season of 2020 is about to start and only rarely have drivers had to wait so long between two different Grands Prix. After the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in December, F1 drivers did not race anymore and because of that long break, teams are opting en masse for different test days.

On Thursday Red Bull Racing will be in action at Silverstone and we saw Mercedes and Racing Point on the same circuit. Renault also came on the track, but did so on the Red Bull Ring. Ferrari sent out the car before, when Leclerc was allowed to make a lap through Maranello.

Mugello is no surprise

Now, however, Ferrari has chosen Mugello as the track to test an old Formula 1 car so that they can comply with FIA guidelines. This will allow the team to get used to the new coronavirus rules and the drivers will finally be able to make meters again since the winter tests in Barcelona.

However, the choice for Mugello is remarkable, as the circuit seems to be a clear candidate for a Grand Prix in 2020. Formula 1 is still looking for circuits that can fill in the gaps on the calendar and according to several sources Mugello is already almost round. It is therefore not quite a surprise that the Italian team opts for Mugello.
