Last week Renault had the opportunity to test on the Red Bull Ring with the 2018 chassis. This was something Dr. Helmut Marko was not very satisfied with. Last week he was rather cynical about renting out the circuit to the competitor.

Test ahead of the season

Renault was the very first team to be present at the Red Bull Ring in Austria, where in two weeks' time Formula 1 will finally start the new season. Daniel Ricciardo and Esteban Ocon got the chance to get used to the speed of an F1 car with an old chassis.

Dr. Helmut Marko was not happy with the idea of a competitive team testing on the Red Bull Ring just before the season. But he did admit that he was impressed by what Renault showed.

Impressed

"Renault had to drive with a two year old chassis, but the new engines were in it. And I was impressed by the durability. I just wonder if it's smart to rent the Red Bull Ring to Renault. We can test the current Red Bull Racing car for up to 100 kilometres at Silverstone on 25 July", Marko told Oe24.
