Last year Jamie Chadwick won the first edition of the W Series, a formula championship exclusively for women. However, the prize money she won was not enough to even get a seat in Formula 3. It therefore seemed that she was condemned to another year in the W Series, until suddenly a new investor appeared.

In March, Chadwick tested a car from Rodin Cars, a company that has developed a formula car accessible to wealthy amateurs. The owner of Rodin, Australian multimillionaire David Dicker, was so impressed with Chadwick's driving qualities that he is now determined to guide Chadwick to Formula 1.

The first step in that direction is to get a good seat in one of the lower formulas. The Prema Power Team, which took Charles Leclerc to Formula 1 among others, is considered the absolute top in both Formula 2 and Formula 3. However, an F3 seat on that team costs more than a million euros for one season.

No international Formula 3 for Chadwick yet

Chadwick won £500,000 last year for her victory in the W Series and thanks to Dicker's money she has now been able to get a seat at Prema. Initially she will ride in regional championships, but she hopes to make the transition to international F3 and F2 soon. To the BBC she says that a Formula 1 seat is her goal around 2023 or 2024.

Gradually she will be able to count on the support of the Australian millionaire: "Jamie is an exceptional racing talent. We look at this in the long term and fully support her in her journey to Formula 1", says Dicker.
