Racing Point confirmed Sergio Perez and Lance Stroll as racing duo for 2021 at an early stage. This means that Sebastian Vettel will not be eligible for a seat at the British race stable that will start next season as the Aston Martin F1 Team. Otmar Szafnauer has therefore had no contact with Vettel.

When asked whether he has spoken to the four-time world champion in the past few days, Otmar Szfanauer answers that he hasn't called Vettel. "Sebastian and I have been good friends for a long time, even before he entered Formula 1. He just hasn't called me, so I haven't spoken to him."

For Vettel, the options seem very limited for next season. Of the (somewhat) competitive teams, only Renault and Mercedes still have a open seat. "I can't speak for Sebastian, but we all know how well he has done", says the team boss of Racing Point in a podcast on the official website of Formula 1 about the possibilities for Vettel in 2021.

Szfanauer hopes that Vettel will continue for a few more seasons

Szfanauer is of the opinion that the German rider does not have to retire yet. "I think he still has some good years ahead of him at his relatively young age of 33. But that's not for me to say," he concludes.
