Wednesday afternoon it was announced that the Italian MotoGP Grand Prix will not be held at Mugello this season. According to Paulo Poli, the CEO of the circuit, the race has been cancelled due to, among other things, the fact that no public is allowed to be present.

In the past few days the Italian circuit has been associated with the organisation of a Formula 1 race. This race should take place in the week after the Italian Grand Prix which will be held at Monza. This Grand Prix would then also be the thousandth Grand Prix of Ferrari, which also owns Mugello.

In the statement of the Tuscan circuit nothing is described yet about organizing a possible F1 race. "It is very unfortunate that we have to cancel Mugello for this season", says Dorna CEO Carmelo Ezeleta. "We haven't found a solution to the logistical and operational problems caused by the pandemic".

Poli added: "Despite the joint effort, we have not been able to find a practical solution. It is impossible to organise a race with spectators and we have to deal with a number of other issues at this time".
