Since it is clear that Sebastian Vettel will leave Ferrari after this season, the big question is whether the German will continue in Formula 1 or whether he stops. If he intends to continue in 2021, Ferrari will face a not too favorable situation. After all, Vettel will want to prove himself to potential future employers.

Stop

"I wouldn't want to be in Mattia Binotto's shoes," says former F1 team boss Giancarlo Minardi to Il Resto del Carlino. "If Vettel is planning to stop at the end of the season, it would be easier for the team." After all, Vettel has nothing to lose in that scenario, so he won't get in Leclerc's way too much.

That situation will of course change if Vettel wants to keep going. "If Seb wants to continue in 2021 it will be very difficult for Ferrari to manage. Because he'll try to prove that he's still a top driver."

Giovinazzi

The replacement of Sebastian Vettel has been clear with Carlos Sainz for some time now. Minardi thinks it's his. He agrees with the choice, but if he could have made the decision he would have gone for the driver of Alfa Romeo. "I would have given Giovinazzi a chance," says Minardi.

"The choice for Sainz is one in the right one. I even suggested a decade back at Ferrari to include him in the junior program." So now Sainz ends up in a Ferrari, albeit via a detour.
