Christian Horner believes that two races within a week of each other would be perfect to try new things. The Red Bull Racing team boss is therefore a big supporter of the proposed 'reversed grid' races.

Not the same twice

"I think we’ve got a unique situation this year, and having two races at the same venue would seem the perfect time to try something different at that second event", says Horner in Sky Sports F1's The F1 Show. "Otherwise, with stable weather conditions, we’re likely to have the same output in race two as we have in race one."

The discussion about such a proposed 'reversed grid' race flared up at the end of last week after it became known that Formula 1 is considering using these races in 2020 at locations where two races are raced. Qualifying on Saturday will then be replaced by this race, where the grid will be reversed before the start of the Grand Prix on Sunday.

"Rather [than] just do it at one race let’s do it all the races where there are two races, so potentially Austria, Silverstone, maybe an Asian circuit further down the line", says the team boss of Max Verstappen.

Not everyone is in favour

Earlier it became clear that a majority of the teams is in favour of the idea of 'reversed grid' races. Especially Toto Wolff and Mercedes seem to be against the idea.
