The drivers' market has been boosted by the departure of Sebastian Vettel at Ferrari. The Formula 1 season of 2020 hasn't even started yet and there are already transfers known for 2021. That automatically results in new rumors around the other drivers.

The driver's carousel

With Carlos Sainz already confirmed for Ferrari in 2021 and Daniel Ricciardo as his replacement at McLaren, Silly Season is getting started. Mercedes and Renault still seem to be the only big teams with seats for the top drivers and with Vettel and Fernando Alonso who might both still be eager to get into a car, the choice is is favorable for the teams.

Lewis Hamilton hasn't renewed his contract either, but where is his future? ''I don't see him going anywhere else. If Lewis leaves Mercedes, he'll really quit Formula 1. A switch to Ferrari, for example, wouldn't make any sense at all, because with Mercedes you already know that everything is well organised," says Bernie Ecclestone opposite Evening Standard.

What should Vettel do?

Vettel is the man who started the whole carousel, but is there still room for Vettel in Formula 1 in 2021? If there is still a seat available, the question remains whether the German will still want to go on. After years of giving up everything for the sport, it might also be the end of a great career.

''I've talked a lot with Sebastian and I think he should take a year off. He better come back in 2022 with the new rules. Then he can take a step back and see what the new rules will bring about in F1. However, I think he would like to drive next to Lewis at Mercedes'', concludes the former Formula 1 top man.
