Formula 1 presented drastic changes to the regulations on Wednesday. A new budget cap, limited time in the wind tunnel and limited developments until 2024. McLaren only applauds it.

"Formula 1 won today. This is an important moment for the sport, which has been financially unhealthy for years. So the future was at stake and the leadership deserves a compliment how the situation has been resolved. The new rules will ensure that we have a fairer field of competitors, so that more people come to watch the sport and there will be more income from the sport'', Zak Brown said in a reaction.

Formula 1 goes forward

However, the changes are not accompanied by setbacks, because in order to meet the budget cap, McLaren also has to restructure and therefore also lay people off. ''Unfortunately it means that we have to lay people off, but this is all with the aim of creating an efficient team in the future'', says Andreas Seidl.

''McLaren supports the cost-cutting route of Formula 1, but we are also very happy that a compromise has been found to offer some freedom in aerodynamics as well. In this way Formula 1 keeps the competitive element between the teams'', Seidl concludes positively about the new rules.
