Last week a rumour was already spreading around the world that the manager of Valtteri Bottas has already thrown a line at Red Bull Racing and Sky Sports journalist Ted Kravitz has now confirmed that coverage. According to the British reporter, a switch is not necessarily out of the question.

Max Verstappen has a contract with Red Bull until 2023, but Alexander Albon's contract expires after 2020. Bottas might therefore be interested to take a seat next to Verstappen at the Austrian race team in 2021. Whether the current Mercedes driver will be presented with a contract offer at all will depend mainly on how Albon performs in the RB16 next season.

Russell and Vettel aces on seat Bottas

Bottas himself is not entirely sure of a longer stay with his current employer. George Russell and Sebastian Vettel are both associated with a transfer to Mercedes. The 30-year-old Finn has a contract until 2020 and therefore has to work next season in order to qualify for a new commitment.

That's why the Bottas camp is already cautiously informing other teams, as it was recently revealed that Renault has been approached by the manager Didier Coto. The usually well imported Kravitz can in any case confirm that contact has been made with Red Bull. "Bottas is in conversation with Red Bull," he says in his program Ted's Notebook.

Still, Kravitz doesn't think it's going to come to that. "Is it possible to make that switch? Yes, although I don't see it happening right away", the 46-year-old pit reporter is honest. "I don't see Bottas doing things Albon couldn't do."
