From 2021 Carlos Sainz will be Charles Leclerc's new teammate at Ferrari. The Monegask has been with the Italian team for some time by then and seems to be taking the lead, but he himself does not speak of a number one role.

Over the years Ferrari has mostly chosen a construction in which one driver goes for the world title and the other mainly supports. It is one of the reasons why Sebastian Vettel, who cannot be used as a second driver, is renounced again. However, the question is whether this is the case with Sainz?

Sainz not number two

"I'm not suddenly number one in Ferrari. Carlos is a great driver and he will show that to the world. For me it will be a tough job and different from driving with Sebastian. Carlos will certainly not make it easy for me and above all he will be very fast'', says Leclerc to the French L'Equipe.

However, with two seasons in the Italian race stable and a long contract in his pocket, everything seems to indicate that Ferrari is becoming more and more team Leclerc and Sainz will be pushed into a second role. On the track, however, the Spaniard will have to show it. Leclerc also started as second driver, but see where it has brought him a year later.
