Franz Tost is confident that Sebastian Vettel will just be on the grid in 2021. The team boss of AlphaTauri expects that the German will find his place with a new team. Tost even thinks that when Vettel finds a place at Red Bull Racing or Mercedes, he will be able to compete for the world championship.

"The end of something always means the beginning of something new," explains Tost at Formula1.com. "It really depends on which seat he can get his hands on. Vettel is a driver who can really fight for the championship. For that he has to get a seat from one of the three top teams. Then he has a reasonable chance of winning races and another championship. I'm sure that's his goal."

Drivers who win don't think about the money

Tost knows the Ferrari driver well from the period when the German was with Toro Rosso. In 2008 he achieved the only victory for Toro Rosso to date in Italy. Tost expects Vettel to have a clear goal for 2021. "He is not a driver who just wants to be on the grid. If we have a race, he wants to win it."

There are many stories going around that Vettel and Ferrari could not agree on salary requirements in the contract. Tost, however, expected that Vettel had also raced for a lower salary. "If you look at it financially, I don't think he even has to race. Drivers who have won championships don't think about the money though. Their motivation is to win races."
