This morning Ferrari and Sebastian Vettel announced that the two will not continue after 2020. According to stories in the Italian media, the German driver would have declined an offer from Ferrari.

Immediately after the announcement, the stories went around who the German should follow at Ferrari. Carlos Sainz is a much mentioned name. The Spaniard would very much like to get into the red car. At the same time Vettel could make a nice swap and drive next year for the British team which would then immediately use a Mercedes engine.

McLaren just doesn't seem to be the only candidate for a deal with the four-time world champion. DPA News asked Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff if Sebastian is a candidate for a seat at Mercedes. "Sebastian is a great driver, a great personality and an asset to any Formula 1 team".

"When we look to the future, we are first and foremost committed to our current Mercedes drivers. However, of course we cannot ignore this development", said Wolff in conclusion.
