Rumours had been circulating for some time that Sebastian Vettel would leave Ferrari at the end of 2020, but that it would be known before the start of the 2020 season was a surprise to many.
In a reaction Vettel expressed regret for his departure, but the German saw 'no need to work together any longer'. The need to be able to work together perfectly is essential in Formula 1 and breakthrough for Vettel could have been his talented teammate.
Leclerc thanks Vettel
However, he regrets the departure of his teammate, from whom he claims to have learned a lot. "It's been a tremendous honor for me to be your teammate. We've had some exciting moments on the track that may not always have been great, but there was always mutual respect, which may not have been obvious to outsiders,'' Charles Leclerc said on Twitter.
"I've never learned as much as I did when I could be your teammate. Thanks for everything Seb'', Leclerc concludes with a second Tweet. The question now is what the future holds for Vettel and who will be the new teammate of Charles Leclerc. For example, in the time of the coronavirus, there are still interesting things that play behind the scenes of Formula 1.
It's been a huge honor for me to be your team mate. We've had some tense moments on tracks. Some very good ones and some others that didn't end as we both wanted, but there was always respect, even though it wasn't perceive this way from the outside.
