Christian Horner has made it clear that the coronavirus outbreak will not cause Red Bull Racing to withdraw from Formula 1. In addition, he indicates that Red Bull also remains very committed to its own junior program.

"We are a race team. We need a championship to race in. Red Bull is absolutely committed into the sport. We’re all racers and we’re all die hard racers", Horner responds to the question of how the corona crisis is affecting the future of the Austrian race stable in the pinnacle of motorsport.

Red Bull committed to F1

The team boss of Max Verstappen and Alexander Albon informs Motorsport.tv that Red Bull is "fully committed to supporting and being in Formula 1. "We believe that we have a great team", Horner says in the interview. "We believe that we can show that when we get to work and hopefully we can challenge Mercedes".

According to Horner, it's not only important for the teams that Formula 1 can start in Austria at the beginning of July. The 46-year-old Briton has noticed everything that fans are craving for the start of the 2020 season. "Hopefully we'll give fans something to enjoy, whether you're a fan of Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton or Ferrari," he says.

Horner emphasizes importance junior program

The top man of the Milton Keynes based race stable is also asked about his commitment to the junior team. Many riders in the lower race classes are supported by Red Bull, but they are now also unable to take action because of the coronavirus. "Red Bull has been absolutely committed to the junior program for the last twenty years. It is also inevitable that the focus should be on those categories. I think that progress has been made in recent years, but there is still more work to be done. To make sure that we get the right talents in the sport and that the sport is affordable," concludes Horner.
