The fact that Formula 1 wants to start again at the beginning of July with the Austrian Grand Prix seems to become more likely by the day. Only a new breakout of the coronavirus infections could possibly kill the start.

This is now apparent from a new statement on the circuit's own website in Spielberg. The Red Bull Ring announces on the website that it has reopened from May 1st for the 'driving experiences' where people from outside can get into different cars to take a lap on the circuit.

Coronavirus rules

With a month to go the statement is that Formula 1 will be held at the Spielberg circuit without an audience and that it 'depends on the government on what day it will take place'. Everyone is now going from 3 to 5 May, but the coronavirus is still decisive when it comes to decisions of the government.

So for the time being fans will have to wait for the official confirmation and it will probably only be really clear when the cars appear on the track. From that moment on, the whole circus is in quarantine and nothing should stand in the way of finally kicking off the 2020 F1 season.
