Charles Leclerc signed a new contract with Ferrari before the turn of the year, which will allow the young Monegask to stay with of the Italian race stable until the end of 2024. Sebastian Vettel still has no contract, but is currently talking about it with Ferrari. It would not be really smooth and in the meantime a hijacker appears on the coast.

Ricciardo and Sainz

The offered contract for the German is worth a lot less and would have a duration of one year. That's not something the German driver is waiting for and that gives rise to speculation: for example, Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz would be interested in Vettel's place. These two drivers don't have a contract after this year either, so they can look elsewhere.

That's not the only one interested, F1 insider reports that they have heard that Fernando Alonso has put himself forward to replace Vettel. This would allow the two-time Spanish champion to return to his old team, where he rode between 2010 and 2014 and finished second in the championship no less than three times.

Contract offer

According to La Gazetta dello Sport, the current contract offer for Sebastian Vettel would be a one-year contract with a value of twelve million euros. That is less than one third of what his contract is now worth. The duration of one year and a long-term contract for Leclerc also shows that the priority at the Italian race stable is shifting.
