A new hero has risen in the United Kingdom: Captain Tom. The walking veteran has raised millions for health care with a spontaneous action. Lando Norris immediately invited Tom to visit the McLaren factory.

To give health care in the United Kingdom a boost, Captain Tom came up with the idea of walking a hundred laps in his garden for his hundredth birthday. The plan was to raise a few thousand pounds for the National Health Services, but that number has already risen to over £21 million.

Lando Norris was immediately struck by the veteran's incredible story. "I'm sure you know how enormously proud the whole country is of you, for what you've achieved and the money you've raised for the NHS and charity," Norris said on ITV in a message to Captain Tom.

A look behind the scenes

The young Formula 1 driver now also wants to do the veteran a favour by inviting him to his employer. "It would be an honour for me to invite you to visit the McLaren Technology Centre and give you a guided tour behind the scenes of a Formula 1 team. As soon as everything is back to normal of course, hopefully as soon as possible".

Norris himself has already set up an action to raise money for the NHS. However, instead of walking circles in his garden, the Brit decided to shave his hair off on a stream after reaching the threshold of $10,000.
