Dominant Verstappen: Win and crash during the first round
- GPblog.com
Max Verstappen started the new championship of Real Racers Never Quit well with a victory in the first race. Unfortunately that wasn't in the second race, when Verstappen ended his race with a crash.
After his title in the first championship organized by Team Redline, it was no surprise that Verstappen would also participate in this tournament. The first round was held in Great Britain and also got its own name: 'Tribute To Motorsport Legends'. The first race was held at Silverstone.
Dominant Verstappen
There it was Verstappen who took pole with less than a tenth lead over Kelvin van der Linde. Felipe Drugovich was also in the top with less than one tenth behind the man on pole. Daniel Juncadella was in fourth place and was the first man with more than one tenth behind Verstappen.
However, the race became a lot less exciting after Van der Linde got away very slowly. With a lot of wheelspin from Kelvin and that caused chaos in midfield. Van der Linde was hit and flew over the head several times. With that the biggest rival of Verstappen was gone, who never got in trouble and managed to win with more than a second ahead of Drugovich.
Verstappen crashes
For the second race there was no more qualifying, but the result of the first race was used to determine the starting order. So Verstappen was able to start from pole again on his way to the next victory, but that wasn't in the end. In battle with Juncadella the two went side by side and together they ran out of track space. On the grass the two got in and spin and Verstappen got the worst of it.
The Dutchman would still finish, but on an eighteenth place. Juncadella managed to get a third place, but the victory went to the laughing third Drugovich. Agustin Canapino had a strong second race and also rewarded it with a podium place.
