All options are currently being explored by Formula 1 to arrive at a new calendar, even a season up to and including January 2021 and two-day Grands Prix are not excluded. The FIA and FOM, together with the organisers of the Grands Prix, have been given free rein by the teams.

"We're in constant conversation right now. Together with other team bosses we are aware that these are crucial moments", says Ferrari teamboss Mattia Binotto in conversation with the Italian Sky Sports. Ferrari's team boss says that the Liberty Media and FIA teams are giving Liberty Media and the FIA all the space they need to come up with a good calendar. Even two-day Grands Prix are not excluded.

"This is possible, with free practice sessions on Saturday morning, so that we can meet the logistical requirements in the case of Grands Prix that are close to each other", said the Italian. Now that the summer break has moved forward to March and April, there is also room to race in August. "If circumstances permit, that's an option."

Teams very flexible

If it turns out that it is not possible to finish a representative calendar in December, there is also a chance that it will continue until January 2021. The teams are not necessarily against this. "We as teams must ensure maximum availability. If this ensures that we can guarantee the 2020 World Cup, while the next season does not start before March, then this is a great opportunity", Binotto concludes.
