Perez on coronavirus: "For a year when I have a good car..."
Racing Point and Sergio Perez climbed high in the pre-season testing timesheets, but haven't been able to prove that pace with a race. The Australian Grand Prix got cancelled at the last minute, and it doesn't seem as if we'll see racing until at least June.
The Mexican is ruing what could have been a great season for himself and the team as they finally see the fruits of Lawerence Stroll's deal. But Perez also knows that this is a serious situation and hopes for the best outcomes.
"For a year when I have a car...! It is much more serious than we think. Let's take the example of Italy, where they do not have the hospital capacity to tend to all the cases," Perez tells Spanish newspaper AS.
"We definitely have a good car, although I think the top cars are still a little bit ahead. The middle zone is very tight and for podiums, we still need to depend on things happening to the three cars in front of us. But we will see. We have probably made that gap smaller although I don't know by much. I am curious to find out," added Perez.
