The FIA and the organisation of Formula 1 have decided to bring the summer break forward. Ferrari accepts the advice and decision of the other teams and will close its doors in the coming weeks.

With the outbreak of the coronavirus, the Formula 1 calendar for 2020 has become quite the puzzle. In order to find a solution, the FIA and Liberty Media have proposed to the teams to move the summer break from 19 March to 8 April. This means that teams will not be allowed to work on the car during that time and that the doors of the factories will have to remain closed.

Red Bull Racing and Alfa Romeo have already agreed to the plan and Ferrari has joined them. "Scuderia Ferrari fully supports the decision of the FIA and Formula 1 to bring forward the usual summer break. The team will therefore close from Thursday to 8 April", says the team from Maranello in a statement.

Personnel already replaced by Ferrari

According to Ferrari, not much will change for the team, because the staff had already been replaced as much as possible to prevent the spread of COVID-19. "For a couple of days, the work in Maranello has already stopped and where possible has been replaced by a smart, automatic work system".

Like many, the team regrets not being able to race, but obviously understands the exceptional situation in which Formula 1 and the world currently find themselves. "We will wait until the situation has improved and we can go back to normal, in our daily lives and in the sport. In the meantime, our thoughts are with everyone affected by the virus and the people who are fighting it", concludes the team.
