Honda is making great progress: "The car is now much narrower"
Toro Rosso made significant progress last season. Putting the two podiums aside, the team developed strongly in their second year with a Honda engine. Over the summer, Aston Martin Red Bull Racing's little brother changed their name to AlphaTauri as they hope to be at the top of the midfield.
Narrower car
"The Honda package is constantly improving and that means that we can also make it narrower at the rear of the car. The engine is also increasingly adapted to our wishes and Honda can just listen very well. All questions are immediately converted into an improvement," Jody Eddington, the technical leader tells GPblog.
Collaboration with Red Bull
Where other engine manufacturers must meet the requirements of different teams, that is not the case with Honda. "The engine goes to AlphaTauri and Red Bull and both teams want about the same things from that engine, so that also works easier for Honda."
During the test, the Honda engine seemed very reliable, but the technical director cannot say much about it yet. "Just like us, Honda just wants to complete a program to test as much as possible towards Australia. We have been able to do that with many kilometres."
