Max Verstappen doesn't want calendar to be extended further
Max Verstappen says he is happy with the current length of the F1 calendar and does not want to see it extended further, as F1 looks to expand to other parts of the globe. Verstappen's home Dutch Grand Prix and the Vietnam Grand Prix are two new events for 2020, in a calendar originally set to be the longest ever, before the postponement of the Chinese GP.
The 2020 calendar was set to feature a record breaking 22 races, but the owners of F1 have been advised against extending the calendar by teams, although those at Liberty Media seem keen to extend the season to up to 25 races.
There have been rumours of races in places such as Saudi Arabia and Miami, but Verstappen does not want to see more races on the calendar.
He said on his website: "I think the current number of races is okay. I would not want to do any more, as we are already a lot away from home.
"It is not only the races, but also everything else in between," he adds. "That is why I would not want to do any more Grand Prix. Not because I do not like it, but because it will be too busy. I think it is important to be able to have a life outside of Formula 1."
