Alongside preparations and developments for the 2020 Formula 1 season, teams and drivers will be keeping a keen eye on the rule and regulation overhaul set to hit the sport in 2021. Max Verstappen is not focusing on this yet.

The new racing season in Australia begins on 15 March. It is difficult for the teams to divide the focus for the coming season and that of the following year. If it is up to the Red Bull Racing driver, it shouldn't matter.

"I have to make sure this year's doing well. I can't really influence the new car anyway, because I'm not an aerodynamics specialist. I also have no knowledge of the suspension and things like that, so I leave that to the engineers," the Dutchman tells Verstappen.nl.

2021 car very different

The teams will have to stay within a budget cap next season. "It's also a completely different car, so the things they say about the current car aren't going to bring much for the new one because it's so different," the Dutchman concludes.
