Steiner hoping to apply the lessons Haas learnt in 2019
It is fair to say Haas had a miserable season in 2019, as they went from midfield challengers to second bottom. Guenther Steiner is hoping the team can learn from the lessons they endured in 2019 to grow in 2020.
Haas went into last season as one of the favourites to finish the best of the rest but eventually, they struggled to second bottom of the Constructors' Championship. They were plagued by issues on and off the track as the William Storey and Rich Energy saga ran through the entire season.
With all that behind them, Steiner is hoping the team can grow and learn from the lessons of last season.
“There were some hard lessons learned last year in a car that was underperforming. Those lessons learned will be applied into this year,” Steiner said as quoted by the F1 website.
“Last year we had a good test [in 2019], and the early races were good – then it went south.
“What we’ve learned is how to look at things better, and how to analyse our data better to see if we’re on the right track or if we’re headed in the wrong direction. We learned as well to listen to our drivers – that sometimes helps a lot.”
