Perez convinced Racing Point can start season strongly unlike 2019

Racing Point driver Sergio Perez is convinced his team can start the 2020 season brightly, unlike they did in 2019 when they came out of the blocks slowly due to the aftermath of the Force India takeover.
As was announced recently, Racing Point is turning into an Aston Martin works team in 2021, meaning this will be the last year we see Racing Point in their trademark pink livery.
In that final year, Perez is convinced the side can kick off after a strong finish to the 2019 season, speaking at the presentation of the RP20 in Austria.
“It will be very tough competition out there,” Perez told RaceFans about the midfield battle in the upcoming season.
“But I’m sure we can fight for that. I think we had a very strong second half of the season so I see no reason why we cannot start strong in Melbourne this year.”
Perez is convinced he can have his best-ever season in Formula 1 this year, which would take some beating as he's had multiple podiums in single seasons before. Have Racing Point improved that much over the winter?
“I really hope that this will be the best ever season in Formula 1, [when] I beat all the other years in terms of results. And that will be our target for this season.”
