Mattia Binotto says Mercedes are Ferrari's strongest opponents ever
Mattia Binotto says that the competition Ferrari is currently facing in F1 is the strongest it has ever come up against, with Mercedes coming into 2020 off the back of six consectuve drivers' and constructors' titles. The Scuderia have not won a drivers' title since 2007, when Kimi Raikkonen won his only championship.
Ferrari have often looked good in recent times, but have lacked the ruthless edge to make them champions. Binotto was wary to suggest how his team may fare in the upcoming season, and told Rai 1: “We can never make a prediction.
“Last year we left pre-season thinking we were going to be very fast and then we had a cold shower in Australia at the beginning of the season. We only recovered at the end.
We are young and there is still much space to grow. There are lessons to be learned from the past, such as reliability.
The important thing is to grow. All the winning cycles took years. There has never been such strong opponents as there is now.”
