Max Verstappen urges Red Bull to start 2020 strongly
Max Verstappen says he wants Red Bull Racing to start the 2020 season strongly in his quest to become F1's youngest ever world champion. Verstappen has been impressive in the last few years and is ready to fight for a title, but it all depends on whether Red Bull can produce a car capable of taking on Mercedes.
The Dutchman took three wins in 2019 as he claimed P3 in the drivers' standings, but it wasn't enough to get anywhere near challenging Lewis Hamilton for the title.
2020 is also the last chance for him to break the record set by Sebastian Vettel in 2010 to become the youngest champion in F1 history.
He told Formula1.com: “The target for the whole team is to fight for the championship and do better than last year, and be there from the first race onwards, because that’s really where you have to start performing.
"We’re on a good way, the team is very motivated, worked very hard over the winter as well, so I just can’t wait to get started.
“I’m just looking forward [to the season] and hope that we can be competitive from the start – and then it can be a really interesting and fun year.”
