Brawn sees the seriousness of the situation: "Williams can't go on like this"
Williams have had a great track record in Formula 1, but the team have been sliding down the pile in recent years. So much so that the last two years, they've been parked at the back of the grid. In 2019, they reached their biggest low ever, scoring just one point in 21 races. Ross Brawn, the sporting director of Formula 1, is very concerned.
Last year Williams did not have the car ready in time for the winter tests and that caused problems for the rest of the season. The decline started a year earlier when they were often found in the back of the field.
Brawn is concerned about the iconic Formula 1 team. The English team has a rich history with nine constructor titles and seven driver titles. “We are very worried about Williams. They have had tough years and that cannot go on because they run the risk of losing more and more sponsors," the Englishman told La Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Latifi
They've lost some sponsors in the last few years, but with the attraction of Nicholas Latifi they hope to have some more funds at their grasp as he comes with a wealthy family.
At least the team is at the start of this season and in two weeks they can show whether they are ready for the winter tests this time.
