Max Verstappen was able to enjoy a well-deserved holiday in December but in recent weeks he has also posted many photos on Instagram of him in training, getting ready for the 2020 season.

A new trainer

The Red Bull Racing driver has a new trainer after his old trainer, Jake Aliker, had to quit due to private circumstances. Bradley Scanes has replaced him and has really got the Dutchman working hard.

“Your training program is, of course, a little different than with the previous trainer, that is normal. Every trainer has a different approach, he has different movements and so on. He is also a physio, so that is a bonus," Verstappen said to Motorsport.com.

An advantage over Hamilton?

There is no denying that Lewis Hamilton is closer to the end of his career than the start and at the age of 22, Verstappen believes that he can have a physical advantage over the six-time world champion.

“If you can maintain your weight and at the same time grow some extra muscles, then why not,” he said. However, he is not sure how much of an advantage it will be: “If I look at my father, he was 35 and also very fit.”

The 2020 season will be nail-bitingly close at the top of the grid. It will be interesting to see if Verstappen can challenge Hamilton and knock Mercedes from their perch.
