Alex Albon's only goal in 2020 is to "continue his development"
Alexander Albon only has one target in 2020, and that's to keep his upward trajectory according to team boss Christian Horner. Albon had a dream debut season in F1, firstly impressing with Toro Rosso before being given the call to join the senior team after just 12 races, when Pierre Gasly was dropped.
Albon was a regular points scorer after joining Aston Martin Red Bull Racing, but was often slower than the other drivers in the top three teams, securing a best finish of P4 at the Japanese Grand Prix.
According to PlanetF1, Horner said: “There’s no specific goals [for 2020], he’s just got to continue his development. You’ve seen every race he’s done with us, he’s just got better and better.
“He was unlucky in Brazil, but I think he’s driven brilliantly well – first year, two teams plus the pressure of coming here and having Max Verstappen as your team-mate.
“He’s handled that really well. I think he’s impressed the whole team with his approach and his attitude, with his feedback, with his pace that continues to grow.”
Albon's 2019 highlights
The Thai driver showed a lot of guts in his first F1 season, with China the first time we really saw his talent. In F1's 1000th race, he came from the back of the grid to secure 10th and a point.
His drive in Brazil is also worth mentioning, staying out of trouble and looking on for a podium finish before being hit by Lewis Hamilton, ruining his chances.
