Are Williams showing signs of improvements? It's always hard to tell before a wheel is turned but at least the British team have passed their crash test on their first attempt. Claire Williams confirmed the news when speaking in Tel Aviv to announce Roy Nissany as their test driver.

Across 21 events last year, both George Russell and Robert Kubica were parked at the back of the grid. As the engineers continue to build for what they hope is a revival season, boss Williams makes it clear the team are taking it step by step.

“We set ourselves some really tough targets over the winter, around aero in particular, about finding performance, and then on some mechanical issues as well. And these have been going well. Obviously, the key target now is getting the car to that test on time – and at the lights when they go green, if not before. And I have absolute confidence that that will happen," Williams is quoted by Motorsport.com

Passing the crash test

Turning up late for pre-season testing was one of the biggest disaster points for Williams. In the build-up to last season, they also failed their crash tests numerous times. Williams is obviously pleased to pass this time around, but there's also a sense of relief.

“One of the first signs of success for us is that we passed all our crash tests and most of which we did at the first attempt rather than like last year where we failed many of them: even at the sixth attempt. That [failing] obviously puts even more pressure into the system because then you're having to deal with a crash test rather than worrying about getting the car out. So that's been a good milestone for us over the winter," she continued.
