Zak Brown praises Lando Norris' mentality in F1: "He's quite grounded"
Lando Norris' first season in Formula 1 made him part of the McLaren bounce back. The whole team will be looking to take another step forward in 2020 by closing down the gap between themselves and big three teams in Formula 1. McLaren CEO Zak Brown is confident that his 19-year-old driver has the correct mentality to keep pushing himself on.
Brown has praised the British driver for his self-criticism. He believes Norris is more critical on himself than the rest of the team are when they give him feedback. This impresses Brown.
"We kind of take for granted that these drivers just come and settle in [with] the amount of pressure that’s on them. I think he’s a breath of fresh air and that he is really honest with himself. I actually think at times he’s more critical about a session or a lap than we are. And to me, that means he’s constantly wanting to improve and analysing what he’s doing and how he can improve," Brown is quoted by RaceFans.net.
"Which you can imagine some 19-year-olds might not have that discipline to look in the mirror and might be going ‘I’m just a 19-year-old superstar in Formula 1’. He’s quite grounded."
McLaren became the first team to signup both drivers for the 2020 F1 season. Both Norris and Carlos Sainz retain their seats after a partnership of 145 points in their opening season.
