Ocon pays tribute to Schumacher in latest helmet design
After one year out of the pinnacle of motorsport Esteban Ocon will return with Renault in 2020. The Frenchman has paid tribute to Michael Schumacher as the example he follows and styles his helmet off the German.
Ocon was dropped by Racing Point for this season and he was unable to secure another seat in the sport. He spent the season working as Mercedes' reserve driver but few opportunities arose as Mercedes were dominant.
Earlier in the season he was confirmed to race alongside Daniel Ricciardo next season and he was gradually phased out of the Mercedes team.
With his return only a few months away, Ocon has paid tribute to Michael Schumacher and explained that he still takes inspiration in his helmet design.
“Michael Schumacher has always been my example. He has drastically changed the sport in a practical sense and in the way teams view drivers," Ocon told Next Gen Auto.
“He has set the bar at the highest level. I still use his helmet design on my own helmet and next year I'll just be back in red. The helmet that I use in Abu Dhabi is not yet the definitive one."
