Valtteri Bottas "open to other solutions " for 2021 driving seat
In an ideal world, Valtteri Bottas would love to stay at Mercedes for the 2021 season but the Finn knows that the driver market will be wide open and he is staying open to any options. Bottas has failed to challenge Lewis Hamilton but in a way, the team needs a solid number two driver who will not cause tension within the team.
“There will be a lot of movement but if I could choose now what I would like, then I would obviously stay here,” Bottas is quoted by Gazzetta dello Sport.“I believe in the work we do every day and I have become a better driver.
“But at the same time, I am also open to other solutions.”
Bottas is in no rush to make any decisions and will hope to put in a solid performance in 2020 to either attract a new team or make Mercedes keep him.
“I don’t want to talk about it even before the season starts. I’ll wait and see what happens.”
Bottas will be hungry to prove himself after a mixed 2019. He had to put up with the off-track drama of getting a divorce and will hope to have a clearer head going into next season where he can just focus on racing.
