After rumours circulated about SportPesa Racing Point owner Lawrence Stroll potentially buying-in to Aston Martin the British luxury sports car manufacturer has confirmed there have been talks with “potential strategic investors”.

Aston Martin, who are currently Red Bull Racing’s main sponsor, are believed to be valued around £1.27billion but have been hit with financial difficulties, leading to a large drop in share prices.

This has prompted a review of funding from the car manufacturer and Stroll, who bought out Force India Formula 1 team in 2018 as they went into administration, later rebranding them as Racing Point, was reported by RaceFans and Autocar last week of a potential buy-in.

The report added that the Canadian businessman, who is worth more than £2billion, would want to wrap Racing Point cars in the 106-year old manufacturers green colours.

Aston Martin’s statement reads: “The Company confirms that it is reviewing its funding requirements and various funding options.

“It is also engaged in early stage discussions with potential strategic investors in relation to building longer term relationships which may or may not involve an equity investment.

“A further announcement will be made as and when appropriate.”
