If Sebastian Vettel doesn't improve by May, he'll be out of Ferrari
Sebastian Vettel has been given a timeframe to improve by Ferrari else he could find himself out of the team. The four-time world champions struggled to perform this season and was comprehensively beaten by his young teammate, Charles Leclerc. Ferrari boss Mattia Binotto has given his driver until May to prove that he is capable of being part of the team in the future.
“We have to see the performance, the way he (Vettel) adapts to the car and his motivation for the future,” Binotto was quoted by AutoWeek. “It’s not about whether he makes mistakes or not. It’s really about how he sees his future and how we see our team.
“Ferrari has the advantage that we are very popular among the drivers. We are in a privileged situation. By the beginning of May, roughly around the race in Spain, we want to know where the journey will go in 2021.”
Ferrari will have a large pool of talent to choose from but it would be naive to write off Vettel at this stage. He could very well come back after the winter break, ready to challenge for the title in 2020.
