Ferrari to open considerations for 2021 F1 driver lineup in May
It's a story that will rumble on through the next six months at least. Will Lewis Hamilton move to Ferrari for the 2021 F1 season? Ferrari team boss Mattia Binotto suggests the team will start to consider their lineup in May. At the end of the 2019 season, Toto Wolff said he and Mercedes were looking to get contract discussions underway as soon as possible.
"Ferrari has the advantage that we are very popular among drivers. We are in a privileged situation. By the beginning of May, roughly around the race in Spain, we want to know where the journey will go in 2021," Binotto said in Spain's Marca Newspaper.
The same newspaper is suggesting that Sebastian Vettel has been involved in talks at McLaren. The McLaren team tied down their lineup for the 2020 season the earliest after promising performances from Lando Norris and Carlos Sainz.
But if Ferrari fail to attract Hamilton from Mercedes, where do Ferrari go? Stick with Vettel or look outside?
