Jean Todt thinks Formula 1 needs more circuits to be redesigned
The 2019 season was mixed. It started slowly with the French Grand Prix being a particularly boring race. However, some of the races later on in the season were very exciting. FIA president Jean Todt thinks that some circuits could be redesigned to make the sport more attractive.
When speaking at the FIA gala Todt said that it has actually been a very competitive season. "Ferrari has taken several pole positions and Red Bull Honda has shown that it can win. Then you have teams like McLaren who find the way forward. So, in general, it was a very interesting championship."
“We probably now understand better - and perhaps we should have realized that before - the importance of circuit design. That is something that we should pay attention to, because we are not doing anything with it yet with the regulations.”
Next season Formula 1 will go to a new circuit at the Vietnam Grand Prix. It is now being constructed in Hanoi and will be designed with Todt's thoughts in mind.
