Bernie Ecclestone "wouldn't bet money" on Sebastian Vettel being in F1 in 2021
Bernie Ecclestone says Ferrari driver Sebastiaan Vettel did not do everything he could to win races last season. He, therefore, finished fifth in the world championship. Ecclestone has questioned Vettel's ability to win another world title and whether he will even be in the sport in the next few years.
Ecclestone believes that Vettel didn't try hard to win races at the end of the season and thinks that some of his passion has left.
''I have not seen the Vettel lately, which is doing everything it can to win and I dare not say whether it will still be driving in Formula 1 in 2021. I wouldn't bet my money on it, but he will have to make the right decision," Ecclestone said to Bild.
Vettel will hope to start fresh next season and prove that he is good enough to continue racing. Ecclestone thinks that this will be tough as his teammate, Charles Leclerc, is a serious talent.
"Young Charles Leclerc reminds me a lot of Michael Schumacher. He can become a great man," Ecclestone said.
Vettel is a four-time world champion and is one of the most talented drivers in the world. He will look to reset over the winter break and come back in 2020 with a point to prove.
