Hulkenberg thanks fans for voting him Driver of the Day in final F1 race
- Nicolás Quarles van Ufford
In what could be his last ever race in Formula 1, Nico Hulkenberg got voted Drive of the Day in an act of solidarity and appreciation from F1 fans around the world, and the German took to social media to thank everyone.
Starting from ninth place, Hulkenberg spent most of the race in 10th after being passed by the charging Valtteri Bottas, who started from the back of the grid. Then, on the very last lap, the 32-year-old got passed twice in the space of three corners by both his former teammate in Carlos Sainz and his current (or now former) teammate in Daniel Ricciardo.
Still, though, the fans rallied and voted him Driver of the Day as he finished a Grand Prix for the 179th time in 10 years.
