Verstappen: "The car has to be adjusted completely differently than in Brazil"
After a stunning performance at Interlagos and the Brazilian Grand Prix, Max Verstappen has laid out what he thinks could be important when the season concludes in Abu Dhabi. The Aston Martin Red Bull Racing driver has picked out FP2 as a key part of the weekend.
Verstappen took his third victory of the season as he won from pole at the penultimate race of the season in Brazil. The victory moved the Dutchman to third in the Drivers' Championship.
It was a great weekend for Honda-powered cars as Pierre Gasly joined Verstappen on the podium leaving the whole team in high spirits. "After a great weekend in Brazil, everyone at Aston Martin Red Bull Racing in good spirits in the run-up to the final race in Abu Dhabi," Verstappen told his website.
The final race of the season in Abu Dhabi provides a much different set of challenges with the season finale at the Yas Marina Circuit. Verstappen previewed the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and expects FP2 to be important in how the weekend plays out.
"We go from the smooth Interlagos circuit to a tight and winding Yas Marina circuit, where the car has to be adjusted completely differently than in Brazil to get the best out of it.
"That is always a challenge in Abu Dhabi, because we go from day to night during the free practice sessions, with the second free practice being the most important because it is the most representative in terms of qualifying and race conditions," he concluded.
