Williams not giving anything away as regards to their 2020 lineup
Nicholas Latifi is expected to be behind the wheel of a Williams Formula 1 car but Claire Williams has refused to be drawn on their lineup for next season.
Robert Kubica will leave his position at the end of the season after just one season back in the pinnacle of motorsport. Despite outscoring his teammate George Russell, Kubica has struggled for most of the season, being well off the pace in an already slow Williams car.
Latifi has participated in practice sessions in Canada, Mexico, the US and will be back behind the wheel in Brazil before returning to Formula 2 in Abu Dhabi. Despite the Canadian being the strong favourite, Claire Williams refused to be drawn on their lineup for next season.
"No, the plan was always to have Nicholas Latifi in the car for these practice session that you’re seeing him in, in the next couple of races and in Mexico as well," Claire Williams said in Friday's press conference.
"It’s no clear indication. We’ve made it very clear in the media that we won’t be making our driver announcement for that second seat for 2020 until after Abu Dhabi this year."
