Mexico GP: Williams have new front-wings but Kubica doubts they'll race with them
Williams have arrived in Mexico with two new front-wings, but Robert Kubica isn't sure whether the team will put the upgrades on the car for Sunday's race. Kubica, who will not be driving for Williams F1 in 2020, will be handing his car to Nicholas Latifi in the first practice session of the Mexican Grand Prix weekend.
George Russell, Kubica's teammate, confirmed the team will have two new front-wings in Mexico which they'll use for practice. Kubica believes the wings have created a much better feeling when driving the car.
"I don't know [if they'll race with the wings] because honestly, I don't even ask. So I think we'll have to see what will be the situation and then drive with what we will have. I just don't want to go too much into the details and that's it," Kubica said in an interview with RaceFans.net.
“I think the feeling was better which was a surprise because we were not expecting that it could be better. So this was a bit strange. The feeling was much better. It’s strange that when you don’t expect things to be any better and then suddenly you have a much better feeling, it’s something probably something beyond this. But we’ll have to probably we’ll re-test it here and then probably we will run it I think but as I said I take it day by day as it is at a better solution.”
Williams have spent yet another season at the back of the grid. Going into the final four races, the British team have scored just one point. Russell will drive for the team next year, with Latifi being his likely teammate. Preparations for another proposed bounce back season are underway.
