Alonso to race with Toyota at 2020 Dakar Rally
Fernando Alonso has been confirmed as a driver for Toyota at the 2020 Dakar Rally in January in Saudi Arabia as he attempts yet another series of motorsport. The two-time F1 champion has also won Le Mans and attempted the Indy 500 in his chase of the triple crown.
Alonso has long seen the Dakar as his next challenge, with the gruelling race a tough task for even the most talented drivers.
Marc Coma, five time motorbike Dakar Rally champion will be his navigator aboard his Toyota Hilux.
The Spaniard is the driver of one of four cars for Toyota at the event, with Nasser Al-Attiyah, Giniel de Villiers and Bernhard ten Brinke driving the others.
Alonso has raced two events already, in South Africa and Morocco, although with poor results despite positive signs.
The Dakar Rally starts in Jeddah on January 5, and runs for two weeks.
