Verstappen doesn't think Red Bull can win again in 2019!
Max Verstappen has said that he believes podiums are the best Aston Martin Red Bull Racing can hope for during the final four races of 2019, adding that he doesn't believe he can win again this season. The Dutchman had his and Red Bull Racing's golden period during the races before the summer break, taking victories in Austria and Germany and narrowly missing out to Lewis Hamilton in Hungary, having taken his debut pole position.
Verstappen has seven race wins in his time with Red Bull Racing, including the last two at the next race, in Mexico.
However, despite his recent success, the 22-year old does not believe he can repeat the trick at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez. He said in Amsterdam at a Tag Heuer event: “You have to be realistic. Of course, we’ve been doing very well there in the past two years. But I think this season so far we’ve had it a bit more difficult, also in terms of the balance of the car.
“So I think if we can fight for the podium this time around, we’ve done a good job.”
Verstappen doubts didn't end there, with Red Bull Racing's young star adding that he doesn't think the team can compete at any of the final races, in Mexico, USA, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
He said: “I don’t think there’s one track left this season where we can do a particularly good job.
“If we can just finish close to the podium or on the podium every weekend, then I think that’s the maximum for us at the moment.”
