Button on his F1 teammates: Hamilton and Alonso "extremely talented" but Perez...
Jenson Button has some tough teammate battles over the years, including Rubens Barrichello, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso. No lack of competition and that no doubt helped the 2009 F1 world champion improve throughout his career. But which teammate was the best?
In his early days, the British legend started alongside Ralf Schumacher and Jarno Trulli. But later on in his career, he sat alongside Hamilton and Alonso. Comparing drivers with different styles is never easy but those at Beyond the Grid make Button decide.
"The fastest, of course, was Lewis. That is beyond dispute, but Fernando was the most complete driver. He hardly had any weaknesses, although everyone ultimately does. Both are big drivers and are mainly known for their extreme talent and many world titles," Button said.
The man who was technically the most gifted, however, is not one of the two extreme talents. "Rubens Barrichello really stood out head and shoulders above the rest. He knew exactly how to adjust his car as well as possible. I learned a lot from him during that time that he was my teammate."
Button also mentions one big surprise. "That was really Checo. Sergio Perez was so fast on some tracks, that was really not normal. He just couldn't get it done on every time, but [on his best tracks] he really couldn't be beaten," the Brit concludes.
